The Research Centre for Information and Communications Technologies at the University of Granada (CITIC-UGR) is an internationally recognised leader in the ICT sector. Its core mission is to tackle major scientific and technological challenges, transfer knowledge to the productive sector, and train researchers to drive socio-economic growth in the realm of new technologies.
Established under the Spanish National R&D Plan, the Centre built its headquarters with support from ERDF. CITIC-UGR was officially established following the agreements reached by the UGR Governing Council at its meetings on 17 September 2007 and 13 March 2009.
Currently, CITIC-UGR brings together top ICT researchers at the UGR - an institution ranked among the top 36 universities worldwide in Computer Science and Spain’s leading university in this field, according to the 2022 NTU World University Ranking. Furthermore, CITIC-UGR delivers the Doctoral Programme in Information and Communication Technology.
CITIC-UGR covers a wide range of ICT research areas, which can be grouped into the following fields: High-Performance Computing, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, eHealth, Software Engineering, Neural Engineering, Data Mining, Nanoelectronics, Cellular and Sensor Networks, Image Recognition, Control Systems, Decision Support Systems, Optimisation, Planning, Signal Processing, Virtual Reality, Soft Computing, and Computer Vision.
